Dr. Robert Schaaf has been with Wake Radiology since 1980. Originally from St. Paul Minnesota, Dr. Schaaf completed his internship and residency in diagnostic radiology at Duke University Medical Center following graduation from Tufts University Medical School in Boston. Dr Schaaf was Chief Resident at Duke and held academic appointments as Assistant clinical Prof of Radiology at Duke and UNC from 1980 thru 1990. Dr. Schaaf served as Chairman of WakeMed’s Department before becoming Wake Radiology’s President and Managing Partner in 1986. Dr. Schaaf is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the ABR and is a member of the ACR, RSNA, ASNR, ARRS, North Carolina Medical Society, and Wake County Medical Society. Dr Schaaf currently serves as a member of the executive committee of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission and on the North Carolina Medical Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors  4/98 to present, Executive Committee 2002 to present — Vice-Chairman, Board of Directors, April 2010 to present. He has been on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) since 2003 as well as the Legislative, Finance, Nominating and Leadership and Managed Care Committees of the NCMS.
