Wake Radiology Charitable Giving

We’re proud of the charities, associations, and cultural groups that we sponsor annually and know the work they do in our communities is making a difference. From the Carolina Ballet to the Komen Race For The Cure, we know that being good stewards in our community is important, and that all these groups contribute to our overall health and happiness. Below is a list of some of the charitable associations that we are proud to support. We encourage you to contribute through resources, time, or ticket purchases to these or other groups to make our community a better place to live.

View our event photo gallery	Komen for The Cure NC Triangle (Sustaining Partner) Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists – the only grassroots organization fighting to cure breast cancer at every stage, from the causes to the cures and the pain and anxiety of every moment in between. The Triangle event is held annually at Meredith College in Raleigh on the second Saturday of June.
	Pretty in Pink Foundation (Founding Partner) Pretty In Pink Foundation is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance, resources, and support to underinsured/uninsured people diagnosed with breast cancer who reside in North Carolina. Pretty In Pink Foundation provides access to breast cancer treatment and surgery through a network of North Carolina healthcare specialists.
	Myself: Together Again (M:TA) M:TA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization created to help women understand the steps to breast cancer recovery and reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy. Their mission is to create a way for young women to gain understanding and empowerment through the breast reconstruction process after double mastectomy surgery. Their Website and navigator booklet have inspired women all over the world to face this difficult journey armed with education and awareness about this surgery. 	The Raleigh Roundup (ACS) This volunteer-driven event is supported by some of the area’s largest corporate and medical organizations. The Raleigh Roundup is a special fund-raising event to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Raleigh Community Office. The Triangle area American Cancer Society is the number one, non-profit, non-governmental provider of funding for cancer research in the country. Over the years, 42 former Society grantees have received the Nobel Prize. Nationally the Society spends approximately $131 million on research, with around $41 million going to the South Atlantic Division. Locally the money raised through the Raleigh Roundup helps to support a Hope Lodge Connection in Durham, five patient service programs in the Triangle area, corporate smoking cessation and physical activity programs, and a patient resource room in the Society's regional office in Raleigh.
	Project Access Wake County Project Access is a physician-led community effort that has provided health care for low-income and uninsured Wake County residents since 2000. It is managed by the Wake County Medical Society in partnership with WakeMed, Rex, and Duke Raleigh hospitals. Project Access is funded through grants and donations to the Wake County Medical Society’s 501(c)(3) Community Health Foundation. The goal of Project Access is to work in concert with community agencies to meet the unmet healthcare needs of low-income, uninsured men, women, and children. Designed by physicians, Wake County Medical Society’s Project Access allows physicians to focus on the profession’s fundamental values in a coordinated, fair, and efficient way. Wake Radiology is a major contributor to Project Access Wake County and is proud to continue delivering imaging care to those who are unable to afford health care services.
	Carolina Ballet Carolina Ballet was launched in 1997 under the direction of artistic director Robert Weiss, to serve the ever-expanding Triangle community. Since that beginning, the Carolina Ballet has evolved into one of the major influences of artistic dance in America attracting 38 dancers from 13 different countries and ballet masters from the most prestigious troupes in the world.
	Relay for Life (ACS) The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in the Triangle area a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairgrounds and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
	North Carolina Symphony Founded in 1932, the North Carolina Symphony is a vital and honored component of North Carolina's cultural life. Now under the gifted artistic leadership of Music Director Grant Llewellyn, the orchestra has grown in stature and sophistication. Its 175 performances annually are greeted with enthusiasm throughout the state in communities large and small, in concert halls, auditoriums, gymnasiums, and outdoor settings.
	North Carolina Master Chorale Founded in 1942 as the Raleigh Oratorio Society, the North Carolina Master Chorale is committed to bringing the very finest in choral music performance to Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill audiences. Under the direction of Dr. Alfred E. Sturgis since 1993, the Chorale boasts a 170-voice symphonic chorus and a 22-voice chamber choir.
	First Responders Appreciation Breakfast The First Responders Appreciation Breakfast is an opportunity for the business community to say “thank you” to those who risk their lives to save others. Join other Chamber members to show your appreciation of representatives from the Wake County EMS, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Raleigh-Wake County Emergency Communications Center, City of Raleigh Fire Department, and the City of Raleigh Police Department.
	The Opera Company of North Carolina In 1996, Robert and Margaret Galbraith founded The Opera Company of North Carolina to establish a new standard for opera in the Triangle area. Their vision lives on to this day, growing and diversifying through one merger, numerous collaborations, 13 full seasons, and 31 productions. The current leadership team of General Director Frank Grebowski, Conductor Timothy Myers, and Board Chairperson Florence Peacock have the honor of continuing the momentum. Collaborations include the North Carolina Symphony, the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Asheville Lyric Opera, the North Carolina Master Chorale, and the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute.
	The Junior League of Raleigh (A Shopping Spree!) The Junior League of Raleigh's more than 1,750 members serve the Wake County area with programs of education and volunteer service. Since 1930, the League has contributed more than 1,000,000 volunteer hours and more than $4,290,000 to community projects and programs focusing on education, health, and women’s and children’s services.
	WCPE 89.7 The Classical Station WCPE is a non-commercial, independent, listener-supported station dedicated to excellence in classical music broadcasting. Located in central North Carolina between Wake Forest and Rolesville, WCPE serves the Piedmont area, including Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, with 100,000 watts of power on 89.7 FM. They are heard in the North Carolina Sandhills, coastal areas, and parts of southern Virginia on eleven remote FM transmitters. For listeners seeking accessible great classical music, their selection and presentation make them the radio station of choice, 24 hours per day, every day.
	WUNC – North Carolina Public Radio Ever since it signed on the air – for the third time! – on April 3, 1976, WUNC-FM has stood for quality programming and public service. But if you’re a fan of the station’s selection of local and NPR news, weekend entertainment, and music programs, you’d be surprised to learn how much WUNC has evolved from its early days, emerging as a professionally managed public radio service. In fact, change has been one of the few constants in the station’s 25-year history.
