Our breast imaging radiologists and technologists recognize a breast cancer diagnosis is perhaps the most devastating news a woman can hear and are driven to reduce breast cancer’s impact on Triangle women. Wake Radiology is devoted to excellence across a comprehensive set of modalities, to following best practices and to going above and beyond what any other local provider does.
Our team combines clinical evaluation with quality imaging and compassion to provide the most specific answers possible to women and their referring providers. For diagnostic mammography patients, this includes taking the time to review findings and discuss possible clinical management steps with the patients so they understand how their referring physicians may manage their breast diagnosis. This attention to our patients’ understanding decreases their anxiety and gives them more opportunities to ask questions.
Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence (BICOE)
Wake Radiology is one of the first two multi-site freestanding practices in North Carolina – and remains the only one in the Triangle – to develop a comprehensive breast imaging program that has earned the American College of Radiology’s prestigious Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) designation. This rigorous process demonstrates that every single breast imaging modality and breast interventional modality at every Wake Radiology outpatient location is ACR-accredited.
Full Spectrum of Breast Imaging Services, including the Triangle’s only BSGI
The unique breadth and depth of Wake Radiology’s breast imaging expertise allows us to offer the full spectrum of breast imaging services, from digital mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI to three types of image-guided breast biopsy (stereotactic, ultrasound-guided and MRI). We are also the Triangle’s sole provider of breast specific gamma imaging (BSGI) services, a form of nuclear medicine. We understand the importance of providing all of these imaging modalities to referring physicians and their patients – and are the only radiology practice in the area that does.
