FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wake Radiology Pediatric Imaging to host Lemonade Stand
RALEIGH (August 5, 2011) – Wake Radiology is joining the fight against childhood cancer by hosting an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Wednesday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Wake Radiology Pediatric Imaging, located at 4301 Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh. As a presenting sponsor of WRAL-TV’s presentation of “Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope” on Saturday, September 3, the practice plans to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the lemonade sales to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which was founded by four-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, a young girl who was fighting cancer.
Alex Scott was not even a year old when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer. By age four, she held her first lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money to help find a cure for all pediatric cancers. Her story spread across the country, inspiring others to host lemonade stands to benefit Alex’s cause. Although she lost her life to cancer at age eight, her dedication lives on through a foundation named for her.
“While Wake Radiology supports many charitable organizations in our community, this one deeply touches those of us who care for pediatric patients on a daily basis,” noted Margaret Douglas, MD, director, pediatric imaging, Wake Radiology. “We know that this foundation has contributed millions of dollars to help find better treatments, and hopefully, a cure for the cancers that strike our most precious patients.”
If you want to help but can't join us on September 7th you can donate by TEXT.
Simply, TEXT "LEMONADE E75932" to 85944 to make a $10 donation.
