25-year ACR member also to become Vice President of the NCACR
RALEIGH, N.C. – June 30, 2019 – Wake Radiology UNC REX Healthcare is proud to recognize Lyndon K. Jordan III, MD, FACR, the practice’s president and managing partner, who was recently named a Fellow with the American College of Radiology (ACR).
This appointment is given to long-standing members who have provided significant accomplishments in scientific or clinical research to radiology, made major contributions to literature or provided outstanding work as a teacher. Only 10% of all ACR members have been awarded this honor.
Dr. Jordan joins other diagnostic radiologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, medical physicists, and nuclear medicine physicians who have been conferred the degree of Fellow by the ACR.
The ACR was founded in 1921 and enlarged admittance to its general membership in 1935. At that time, ACR leadership decided to retain the induction of fellows for members who attained distinction in the specialty.
Dr. Jordan was also recently named Vice President of the North Carolina chapter of the ACR and will serve in that capacity through 2020. He will continue to serve on the NCACR’s Executive Committee and has been a member of this statewide professional organization for 20 years.
Dr. Jordan currently manages Wake Radiology UNC REX Healthcare, one of North Carolina’s largest and most successful outpatient medical imaging practices that includes more than 350 employees and 50 physicians. Earlier this year, he helped guide and finalize a strategic partnership between Wake Radiology and UNC REX Healthcare to expand access to quality outpatient imaging to patients throughout the greater Triangle. Dr. Jordan served two terms on the NC State Health Coordinating Council receiving bipartisan appointment by two governors. He has served on the Executive Committee and as treasurer for the NC Medical Society Foundation Board as well as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Carrier Advisory Committee. Dr. Jordan graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine, where he was elected class president, and also completed his internship, residency and fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging. Following his Duke training, Dr. Jordan joined Wake Radiology in 1999.
